what to clean glass with

I'll have to try that Magic eraser, but this is second year on same bottle of this stuff, glass looks like new, smells a bit like sulfur, but no worse then wifes Farts, LOL... $10/Bottle over 2 years, prob keep using it, bought at any Home Hardware or probably Ace hardware.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Have you given any thought to changing her diet?

Yep, the macman now uses the Magic Eraser...works GREAT!

Big fan of the Magic Eraser....Glass still is like new on my stove. It get everything off with almost no effort....like magic!!

I was just in my local PriceChopper supermarket, and happened to notice that they have their own "generic" brand of Magic Eraser-type cleaning pad....called the "Multi-Eraser". I'll be checking this out to see if it's as good as the "original". If so, I'll buy them since it their about 1/2 the price.

Gave them a try...and I will go with good enough for half price, the old chopper has some decent deals!

The ashes in the bucket work great, I use a wet rag.

Second that! My dealer tech recommended the wet rag (paper towel) with some stove ashes. Works great and very handy.

I use Dawn Power Dissolver and a paper towel. Blue spray bottle on your grocery store shelf. Spray on and wipe the black off. I don't care how thick it is. This stuff is incredible.

If you want to really save some $ though, an old wood burners trick is to use wood ash. Vacuum the door & glass first with the brush attachment to get most of the buildup, then take a wet paper towel, dip it in some of the stove ash, and lightly scrub the glass.....should clean it right up.

I had never heard of this before, and my parents had a fireplace and never did this either. Must try! Thanks.

first I heard of that. I been doing it for years. My quad still has all the original gaskets. It has 2 side windows and the easiest way is to just spray the glass. Stoves a 1994 model. Original owner did the same thing.

I have no idea whether or not its true, but this is what I learned from reading several posts in this forum shortly after getting my stove.

So far a wet paper towel has cleaned everything off of the glass. The dealer recommended the ash trick as well though. I'll try that if I come across something the wet paper towel won't take care of.

Another vote for the wet paper towel and ash, works great. After that I just take a clean paper towel with warm water followed by dry towel. The ash really helps to get the brown baked on creosote off..............

An old sock...wet it and use the ashes from the stove....has exact amount of abrasive action...clean with a seperate wet rag...dry with paper towel

All I have ever used is either a dry piece of newspaper or a slightly wet paper towel. Don't scratch your glass with magic eraser. Be careful with window cleaner as it will eat the gasket around your glass.

Old smelly underwear works good too,lol.Just the right amount of stench to peel that Creasote right off the glass, will also remove wallpaper if ya put to close to wall, so use with caution, Geesh."Whoda Thunk"

don't waste money buying extra cleaner stuff, damp paper towel and that's it....works just fine for me..

I used the Erasing Sponges ( a Meijer brand like Magic Eraser) , which worked good with a little bit of effort. But, I found
that the Rutland brand of glass cleaner for stoves is easier. I just wiped off the excess ash, etc. on the glass with a damp paper towel,
rubbed on a small bit of cleaner with a damp paper towel, and wiped it off with a dry paper towel. I could see the brown
dissolving as I rubbed the cleaner on the glass. After the dry paper towel wiping, the glass was very clear and clean. I found
the Rutland cleaner at HD. ($4.98 8oz bottle).

my vote goes to glass cleaner. good portion of time wet rag no ashes gets 80% of it clean. like mentioned above you can see brown on glass run off. bottle goes a long way.

becides the Magic Eraser, I found that Castle Glass Cleaner works great( from a car dealer or some gas stations).
