I stick my magnetic thermometers on my single-wall stovepipe just above the collar, and have learned to use that information to good effect. Rick

Aces if your'e asking if that will work, there should be no reason for it not to. Should not be a problem. Along the lines of Rick's post, if its a stove pipe thermometer, you'll probably have to disregard the "zones" on it, When mine says that I'm overfiring, I'm usually just getting up to a really good burn. Just use it as a reference tool.

As I understand the Napoleons that's the only place to get a true stovetop reading. I have a 1100c coming and I don't think it even has that trivet opening, so I'll go with the stovepipe also.

thank you for the replys just needed the reasurance now i should probably purchase a probe type for the pipe as it is double wall. thanks again.
