What do you do with all the garbage wood?

The ship has already sailed on me using metal pallet cages (IBC totes) for good cord wood, my shed system is incompatible. But I think I should pick up a few of these just for storing and drying garbage wood used to feed the fire pit.

Any tips on how to source some, without paying retail?

Craigslist usually has folks selling IBC tanks. They may not advertise cages only but on occasion they get damaged tanks so they sell them that way. The key thing is you need to have a place where you can get rid of the actual poly tank. I have one sitting in the yard I need to deal with but I can just haul it over to the local regional transfer station.

I suppose you can't just cut it up with a sawzall, and stuff it in the residential recycling?

96 gallon recycling can, so I wouldn't have to make more than just a few cuts. Bet that stuff saws pretty fast with an aggressive blade on a big 15A recip saw.

If not... Stihl 064 AV! j/k... would be awful grabby in anything that thin.
