I only burned three brands last year (Big Heat was the other and they seemed god awful!), but I was a noob last year, so what do I know!

1. Golden fire

That's it. I only burn Golden fire anymore. Clean and hot. Heated a 2000 sq ft house all winter(oregon) on two tons last year.

We use the NG central air at night--set the thermostat to 62-65 and it will come on at night so that it doesnt get too cold at night. This ends up being about $30/mo in NG or so. Our house is also single level and the master bedroom is way in the back and doesnt receive much heat from the pellet stove...but we're really only in there at night, so it works out.

Another factor is that we live in western oregon, so the winters here aren't that brutal. It gets below freezing, sure, but rarely below 20.

1. Energex
2. Pennington Nature's Heat
2 ton of each

First i have seen Pennington mentioned here... And that is the only brand from these lists that i have access too but they are 300/ton!

That's what I could get last year. The Energex were a year old, and only 2 ton available. This year is a whole new experiment.

Answers seem to have petered out but I'll wait a couple more days and summarize the results. You might also want to check out the other thread about "two worst pellets". Not too much overlap, which I guess is good. :-)
