We're buying our first pellet stove sooon...what would you buy?

It used to be before the blower upgrade...now mine is kind of loud.

A M55 insert will not go 48 hours unattended in CT. I have one and I need to fill it twice per day. The ash pan is small if you are burning ashy pellets as well. I LOVE my stove and wouldn't get a different one but you may want to look at a Harman for your needs.

Yeah I agree, and also to the OP the fireplace insert unit has a smaller hopper then the regular unit......if you can install the regular unit and not the insert you will be wicked happy with that hopper extension, I can't imagine if I was able to put an extension on my insert I would be in heaven with not having to refill every day......

The Englander 25EP can be converted into an insert by purchasing the surround separate land removing the base. I did this a few years back. That being said the reason I sold that stove and purchased a Harman was the amount of daily attention the Englander needs, you will need to clean the burn pot daily so you will not be able to leave it unattended for 48 hours.

Whatever you choose (and above rec's sum it up fine) I would only install ONCE. Still don't understand why you would put same stove in different location unless you're remodeling. Can you elaborate? It's not as if you can just shove a pellet stove into a fireplace and turn it on, so why not buy the freestanding unit you decide on and install it where you want it?

Bought our Harman Accentra last year and LOVE it!! We've been using a fire place and old woodstove for many, many years, both at the same time as we have no heaters. Now, for a year we only need to run the Harman. IT's like having a heater. We set the setting to where we want and that's it. No more waking up in the middle of the night to add wood, no more coming home to a cold house, I LOVE my stove, and as you can see from my avatar, my pig loves it too!

Don't get me wrong, the Englander is a great stove for the money it just requires that daily burn pot cleaning/ash removal. Not an issue for most, for me I was traveling a lot and it's hard enough to get my wife to remember to put in pellets let alone vac a burn pot. The OP said they wanted to leave the stove for up to 48 hrs, you could not do this with my old Englander even on a low setting. You could squeeze enough pellets but the pot would fill up with ash too fast.

A Harman Accentra 2008 cabinet model.

Test mode works, the mechanisms seem fine.

Anybody know any reason that it's not kicking in to automatic mode?

Perhaps I should clarify. Yes, you can set and forget a Harman. My point was that if you like to tinker, theres tinkering to be done with a Harman. My quad can only adjust the feed rate. Disappointing for someone like me who likes to tinker

If you want the best of the best buy a Harman! we have one in our shop P68 that hasnt skipped a beat in 7 years my business partners P68 has kept him warm at home for 5 years and he lives in a Barn ! My XXV has kept my family warm for two seasons now with nothing more than a cleaning every once in awhile ! Im putting in a Harman Boiler next year !

You did good because it is nothing to put 300-500 in pipe and a hearth pad alone.

I have a Quad per signature and it is a great stove but like others have said there is little adjustment which if burning really high quality softwood pellets it is incredible. It has a high medium and low burn switch.. a mechanical adjustment for feed rate that is adjusted on high and that is it. The best way to adjust it further is by pellet choice.

I got two tons of hardwood pellets fresh from a plant for 145 a ton that are not bad pellets but they throw a lot of ash in my stove and make the burn pot a little tough to clean at times but I couldn't resist. If I had a multifuel englander or some stove with more adjustments I would probably get more heat out of them with less cleaning and monitoring.

I better shut up and stop whimpering before someone makes me walk the pellet plank. LOL

I have 2 Harmans and a Quad for the shed. All were purchased used and broken for $1625 total for all 3, but they are built like tanks! A few new parts and some paint and you cannot tell the difference from the new ones except these are heavier and have lasted longer!

Igintor may be dead, I just replaced one in 2007 Accentra Insert last Friday.
