ENCO (later EXXON) and it's sister companies Humble, Esso and others used the ad slogan "put a tiger in your tank".... gave out furry Tiger Tails to hang from your gas filler door on your car... somehow that became "Tiger Talk" (notice the professional shoe polish lettering)....
My '57 Olds was nicknamed "the Impressor" 'cuz i could smoke the rear tires for two city blocks (usually in front of school to impress the chicks!)... when I blew the engine in my Olds I bought a '52 Chevy to drive ($40.00) until I got the cash to fix the Olds. No one would expect that little 6 cylinder to smoke the tires but I had a "secret weapon"... I filled the right rear tire with 80 lbs. of air... taking off from a pile of wet leaves in front of school got the tires spinning and I could almost get a block of smoke out of the old Stovebolt 6... but the tire patch was only about 2" wide
