Warm Front pellets - Not too happy....

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought they were labeled as a NEWP product with "warm front" as a product line name. I get it now.

Hello, I'm new on the site and found it by searching for warm front pellet complaints. I just wanted to let everyone know that we have had terrible terrible luck with them and are stuck with over 3 ton that we can not and will not burn in our pellet stove again. Our first complaint is that they don't burn hot at all and we've tried adjusting the draft and blower speeds etc. We've actually had to turn the furnace on to warm the house up while the stove was going! But the worst situation is the large amount of sawdust in the last 3 bags used and honestly the amount of sawdust was so bad it clogged up the auger and created a smokeback. We refuse to even try to use them from here on out and are dealing with the distributor to try and return and get our money back. Our stove is an Englander and was brand new and installed this Oct. Before burning the warm fronts which we only purchased during the shortage period this year we burned Barefoot pellets which are far superior in giving out heat and also have burned the Somersets with good luck. But, the Warm Fronts are garbage. Thanks for letting me spout off!

It sounds like the pellets vary quite a bit. One of things I noticed was that I had almost no sawdust at all. I did notice that there was a very fine coating of dust on the pellets, so fine it becomes air born if you dump the bag too fast. I am pretty careful handling the bags so the pellets dont break up, but last year I burned the new england green label and they had a lot more sawdust. It could be the way they were handled in shipping or just that all pellets will vary from batch to batch.

There really is a big difference from pellet to pellet it seems and I know that for the longest time around here they all sold the The New England Pellet Brand and then they got switched to Warm Fronts. But I know of people that had a heck of a time with the NE brand and hated them too so for us we are staying right away from the New England brands. The amount of sawdust that we got was really a huge amount and didn't noticed it until it got poured in the hopper. What a mess! But for our first time use of a pellet stove overall we love it and sure would miss having one! We'll get the bugs out eventually!

Just a tip for the future, I have a plastic barrel next to the stove that holds three bags of pellets, so when i go by the stove I just put a few scoops in and top it off. One of the advantages is that all the sawdust falls to the bottom of the barrel so if you have a batch of pellets with a lot of sawdust like I did last year it ends up in the bottom of the barrel instead of in the auger tube.

I'm wondering if anyone can answer my question. If not, I'll contact customer service (if I can get through!). I have an Englander stove not quite a month old (it's a replacement as the first one we got had to be returned to the dealer) and with this new one it came with a bad top auger and just replaced that yesterday. So we're not starting out good with this one either! My question though is what would make a stove burn REALLY hot so hot that you can smell the hotness throughout the house and even the board it sits on is very hot to the touch? Is this normal or should we worry?

just so everyone know about my venture with Warm Front pellets, Alyson from NEWP and I were exchanging emails and I sent a sample, the lab test results showed the pellet to be within "standards" according to Alyson.

Even though I don't like this warm front, and may never buy it again, I can say that Alyson from NEWP has been very receptive and followed though very consistent; but I will have to pay the price and "live" with this brand until depleted......:-(

I told my friend I'd sell 10 bags so I have enough for the end of the season but he didn't like the pellet when he tried (I have around 35 bags total right now).

.......If the plain NEWP brand and the Warm Fronts are exactly the same, why the different branding? It just makes it harder for people to figure out which brand burns good for them and which does not. If there was a difference between them, I could understand, but since there isn't...............

Why does GM and Ford make cars that are identical under the sheet metal, but are called Chevrolet and Pontiac, or Ford and Mercury???

People like to have a choice, and manufacturers feel most people won't know the difference.

I guess you're right in terms of cars....
Products produced by manufactures, in this case pellets, would make sense to have who makes them at least.

Yeah, this could be marketing stuff, however when you see a company does NOT stamp their name on the bag somewhere, then to me it is kind of "fishy", and again to ME it means they don't want to risk their reputation if something is wrong with the product.

By the way, this pellet sucks big time, I would NEVER burn this brand. As I said before, my friend has one of the pricey european pellet stove (very expensive) and my other friend has a brand which I think is Harman or Breckwell, both of my friends tried this brand and they said they wouldn't try again unless I give them for free....:-(

Looking for some help. Need to hear from some pellet customers that went to the NEP warehouse located in Enfield CT last September or October looking for their pellets. Their is currently a criminal investigation into the workmans comp claim that Steve put in with the Conn Department of Corrections for these months. I need the dates you went down to the warehouse and what you saw Steve doing while you were there. Also you must be willing to testify in court. Please E-mail me at

No matter how minor you think your information is when we put this all together it will total up. You must be williing to meet with the criminal inspector and if needed go to court and testify. Also looking for customers that Steve delivered to. Not his delivery drivers but Steve himself on the truck working! I just wanted to add my own two cents here. I started burning these for the first time this year. Last year I used Energex, which I was told was well rated. The Warm Front pellets are performing better. More heat, no clinkers, comparable dust/debris in the bag. I shake out my pellets before adding them to the hopper, so I know exactly how much small stuff there is in every bag. Also, because I do this, even a bad bag does no harm to my auger because that junk never reaches it. Instead of clinkers (hard chunks of ash), I get a very fine ash left over in my burn pot. So I still need to clean it out, but it's much easier to deal with. It hasn't been cold enough to run for a long period (6-8 hours), so I don't know if that fine ash will cause problems for my stove like the clinkers did from the Energex pellets.

As with other posters, I was disappointed that the bad did not give more detail about where they were manufactured, by whom, ash content and so-on.
