We have a 2.5 week old stove that we are loving using, but we have run into a problem. The primary air control lever on the back right of the stove is being weighed down (I am assuming by the internal ball chain or some other component) and this results in a stove that is hungry for air when it should be in a higher airflow position. When we move the lever to the higher flow position it is pulled back to the lower flow position. The stove is in our brick fireplace attached to the lined chimney and accessing the back is very difficult. Is there any way to fix this issue without disconnecting the stove from the chimney and pulling it out of the fireplace? Anyone have any experience with this issue?

Does this happen with a cold fireplace on start up or only when the stove and fireplace have warmed up?
There should be a nut under the thermostat cover that you can tighten to keep the handle from slipping.
Upon further jiggling, something has fallen off the primary air control lever internally. If I try to leave the lever around the midway point it will fall down to the lowest setting no matter hot or cold.
I can investigate the thermostat, this is my first stove and access is difficult with the stove in the fireplace.
Since the stove is 2.5 weeks old it should be under warranty. Can you get whoever sold it out to fix this?
If you have the heat shield in place that will need to come off (after removing the damper handle) to access the thermostat. Then there should be 2 screws at the bottom of the thermostat cover holding it in place. Once the thermostat cover is off you can locate the nut that fell off (obviously it was loose) and reassemble.
