have a useless vogelzang 5570 I got a year ago I got at tractor supply and literally the year after I got it, auger motor went and auger is gone.. But that is not why I am posting.. I just got a king 5502 in addition to that crap vogelzang, installed it and it simply will not light. I have everything plumbed correctly and keeps putting up the negative air pressure fault. Honestly, I could have spent the money on a better Woodstove than tinker with these crap stoves. Anyone know why the king will not light?

You are buying the bottom of the barrel stoves. There is a reason why it only cost 25% of a quality stove.

I agree with above post. Sell it and buy a good stove and be happy.

I was temped by the lower cost stoves too when investigating pellet stoves in the fall of 2012, as a replacement for my aging coal stove.. both the wife and I decided it would be better to buy into higher quality even though it would take an extra couple of months before the purchase. We are both very pleased that we did that and got a stove that has run pretty much flawlessly from the first firing on..

But that said, there are King owners here whose stoves run !! LOL. Maybe they will chime in.

Well, the castle serenity stoves are also very low end priced machines, but not only do mine work well now, but they sure seem to get good reviews here so............

"Usually", not always of course, but usually people that buy the economy models are somewhat mechanically inclined as much of the time the lower price point purchases will need some tinkering.

It sounds like you have a leak somewhere. Could be the sensor is leaking and not making the circuit, or the door seal, or...... But me being somewhat new here, I have only come across a few mentions of this switch issue. You might do a search here and see what you can find.
However, the auger and motor for your other stove should be able to be replaced, likely with a common ots part.

I am with my fellow serenity owner....not all lower end stoves are bad. I am very pleased so far...to me, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere if you are not getting a good vacuum seal.

Describe your venting set-up. Do you have an outside air kit? Have you run through the "test" mode to ensure that convection & combustion blowers are working? Error message displayed?

My vogelzang 5570 has been bullet proof, now going on its third winter. It replaced my old Quadrafire Sante Fe, was just to small for my old house. Good luck with the King.

Going to need the rundown on your setup, venting, fuel, etc. My 5502m runs just fine. Burns any kind of pellet and the parts are sourced easily. My "bottom of the barrel" stove is quite good IMO.

Johnny, I re-traced my steps.. Took everything apart, cold air intake, vent piping, reinstalled everything, used UL LISTED metal tape to seal the Intake joints, went through the test cycle, runs fine now.

Ok so it's working good now? Awesome.

We have a 5502M and it was working for the first 2 months just fine. Yesterday we realized when starting it back up that as long as draft fan ran, the flame was fine, but as soon as draft went into off cycle the flame would get real lazy and head up the pellet chute. We cleaned the entire stove, removing back and sides, cleaned the exhaust fan and the 2 side doors inside by the ash box. We also checked the vent pipe and emptied the cleanout which didn't have a bunch in it. There was more ash behind the 2 small doors inside the ash box than there was in the cleanout. Any idea on why all of a sudden we are getting an extremely lazy flame that all but goes out?

Welcome to the forum! Exhaust fan should not be cycling off while burning ... any error messages? Make sure you unplug the stove while working inside the cabinet. Have you vacuumed out the dust bunnies on the motor windings? Compressed air might be more helpful if you have access...

Glad to hear you did a cleaning... did you use any brushes or hose extension on your vacuum to clean internal exhaust passages well?

everything so far points to the vaccuum switch. pulled the hose off and the barbed fitting and blew through it. it wasnt plugged. gonna check the switch next. the stove doesnt cut off, we have to shut it off but its using all oxygen out of the burn chamber no vacccuum it seems.

Check for cracks in the vacuum hose... but that doesn't explain why the exhaust blower would cut out. It is the exhaust that is cutting out not the room blower?

Have you got surge protection on the stove? Power outages lately? Wondering if it is a board issue...

If company not providing support, may want to PM Owen1508 ... used to be a USSC stove tech.

By the the draft fan turning off, what do you mean? The normal on/off pulse?

Lake girl, the draft fans on these units cycle like that. They do not run continuous, but pulse on and off depending on the setting. Like the auger they will run for say, 3 seconds, then off for a few seconds.

Sounds to me like the exhaust fan motor is dragging. It's supposed to glide down in speed during the off cycle, not stop fully. The on pulse spins it up to speed, then it glides down in speed during the off cycle, then back up to speed again. It's not supposed to stop at all during operation. I would check to make sure the exhaust fan is spinning freely. You'll need to remove it to do this. You don't need a new gasket, high temp RTV silicone can be used for the reinstall.

Also check the air inlet pipe to make sure it is clear of obstruction.

That's what mine is doing the pulse. On and off. Just today finely got mine up and running. Mine didn't work from the 1st time I tried it, replace control board and wiring harness. Make repairs to exhaust pipe. Took over 2wks to get parts from us stove and service personal are not that helpful. But mines been running 4 hours and seems to be ok.

Flog them on craigslist and buy a well known brand name. They are fairly reasonably priced used. I picked up a Enviro Omega cheap and shortly after I saw a Cumberland MF3800 for $600. Had I see the Cumberland sooner I would have bought it instead. The deals are out there Searchtempest is your friend.
