Never really timed it . . . a large part depends on my heating needs -- if it's cold outside and a brisk wind I'm reloading more frequently and if it is not as cold I'm adding less frequently . . . one thing is for sure . . . I know the reloading time is in hours . . . not minutes . . . I would cook myself out of the house and have a huge pile of coals if I was reloading every 45 minutes . . . or at the very least would not be burning very efficiently.

When the temps are like they have been currently, 30s-40s during the day and 20s-30s at night, typical day is...

Start a fire when i get home from work, 4:30ish. usually 2-3 average sized splits and some kindling
Load up for the night 9-9:30 or let it go out (if and amount depends on house temp and forecast)
Nothing in the morning
When I come home for lunch 12ish (perk of living 2 miles from work  ) if the house is cool i'll start a fire, if not wait till later.

Now when it gets colder and we start 24/7 burning, its typically

3-4 splits in the morning- around 6
3-4 splits at lunch
2-3 splits when i get home
4-8 splits load up for the night

How often do YOU find that you are adding new splits to an existing fire, once established?

Which stove? The Pre-EPA stove, the Non-Cat stove, or the Cat stove?
