Good additional pics. I still think this is white oak. Heartwood has a tendency to be pretty dark at first but will lighten up as it dries out.

The rounds busted up pretty easy too. Couple hits and they split right open.

Oak species will do that for you. Couldn't do that with pi@@ elm though!!

Looks like white oak to me as well
