Looks like some competition for Eden Pure, http://www.edenpurestore.com/ another magical electric heater.
The heater was tested by an independent lab in a home environment and determined to use 1.263 kilowatts per hour.

I am looking for the site that shows how to turn base pellets into gold. I heard you could mail them in and get cash back in a few days.

Electric snake oil.

Regarding the Edenpure. As an electrician I have to cringe when I see those charlatans extohl the virtues of these glorified electric heating appliances.
The very folks who need them are in all probablity also in need of larger circuits to accomodate them.
They are on wheels to use in any room as desired but how many 20 amp outlets are found outside the kitchen/ dining room ?
And thats usually only in homes built after approx 1965 .
And I`m a bit puzzled and maybe even embarrassed to see what looks like genuine Amish craftsman bulding electric heater surrounds and advertising them on TV. I never thought they would be associated with anything that might look questionable.

I know quite a few Amish, heck I'm even married to a gal whose mother was Amish and those appear to just be actors in my view. Remember this is TV.

I hope and would even bet you are right but the TV ads at least take on the look of being authentic and will be believed by most and I have not heard or read anything to the contrary. I`d like to think the Amish would definitely want to protect their integrity.

Here`s an amusing article on the subject.

Yeah I do understand what your saying and your right, most will believe what they are seeing. The Amish like a low profile(@ least in my neck of the woods) and I'm not certain that they would even take any measures to debunk this, if indeed these are actors.

As for the Amish heater only the wood surround is made by the Amish. My brother has one and it works great.Heats about 450 sq ft and costs about 16 cents per hr to run. Also have a relative that has a similar to the Edenpure large heater and that has helped to cut there heating cost in a 1700 sqft home.

I love those commercials and ads.....

Somehow, all the folks are wood working, but not a speck of sawdust on any of them!

Oh, and to my knowledge, many Amish are OK with using power tools and even electricity at places of work - just not in their homes. All sorts of funny "laws", but I do remember working with Amish in TN. and they accepted rides in cars (to work), etc.

All the sects are not 100% the same.

"but for the most part power tools are used to amplify their skills passed on from generation to generation.
Some will have a generator in their barn (not in the home) to run the power tools. Often an ‘Englisher’ (non-Amish) owner will manage the shop and the Amish will work in the shop plying their trade."

These adds are targeted towards the elderly. It is too bad. When I put my Pellet stove in my girlfriends mom asked why I just didn't buy a "Miracle heater"

Infra red heaters have been around since I was a kid. I would think that would be false advertising.

The scam aside, I thought these were 1500 watt heaters? Not 2400 watt heaters.

isn't 1500/120=12.5?

12.5 amps, not 20 amps.

Mark :)

I live deep i n the heart of amish country and i assure you the photshopped "amish work crew" seen i nthe advertisment are not real amish
the product looks like any other crappy little ineffecinet electric heater box to me

This current draw is marginal for many older homes with 15 amp circuits, 4 outlets per circuit. It depends on what is plugged into the remaining outlets whether you will trip a breaker or blow a fuse. In really old homes with fuses, the unsafe but expedient solution is to put a 20 amp fuse in a 15 amp circuit without changing the wiring-How do I know this??

If I remember correct the ad said if you buy the Amish mantle and "The miracle fireplace heater is free" NOW THAT'S A DEAL!

Ha ha ha. I read it again like what is he talking about then I got it. I had to laugh.

My girlfriends mom is a large woman.

This is my rifle this is my "pellet stove" This is for killing this is for fun!

Hey, you know what I heard, all the amish are a bunch of drunks and incested weirdos!
Hey what the hell, if we're gonna bash, let's get it on!
You knock him down and I'll kick him!

The commercial shows a good number of workers hammering something small such as brads or finishing nails into the miracle boxes. Then there is a quick shot of pocket hole joinery..... Ahh, you have to love marketing!

Matt

The stoves throw good heat but I can promise you your electric bill will sky rocket .My bill went up 100 dollars a month running stove only at night. I saw an electric heater at Lowes with a thermostat controll for less money than the amish stove.

really who better to play a key role in the production of a new advanced electricaly effiecent appliance than a subculture of nonconformists who dont belive in the use of any electricty or anything with technology past the year 1850

Not only can you not spell, you tell lies.

Electric resistance is electric resistance. I have a hard time believing that these boxes will put any more heat out than a $15, 1500 watt heater from Walmart.

The one at Walmart will probably shut off if it's knocked over.
