It was almost -30°C (-22°F) here this morning and has warmed up nicely to -18°C (-.4°C) now. I think on Monday I might pull some snow off my roof before it starts to melt.

No, actually I'm on the 49th, just North of the US border. Where I work, I could almost throw a stone onto US soil. I have worked up near Red Lake and Geraldton/Longlac in the past.Battenkiller said:Hey, LL, you up around Red Lake? Further up?

Ja, our's is due on Wednesday. I have to pull some snow off the roof on Monday before it starts to melt.Backwoods Savage said:Hang on folks, they say our January thaw is coming next week...
Back in the 80's when I was clearing the site for the new Atikokan Generating Station, I remember having to wade through waist deep snow and having to essentially dig out every tree to get down to the stump. With that amount of snow I could only clear about an acre a day. The other cutters were doing two acres a day and so the boss was getting on my case. Of course they finished their strip before I did and they got laid off. When they brought in the skidders, they couldn't move as the the other guys didn't stomp down the snow but rather just cut everything at waist height. I had to then go recut every stump and got a whole lot more work out of the deal.quads said:I don't mind the cold, prefer it actually over the hot weather, but the snow can go away anytime now! There is too much. I can tolerate it up to about half a foot maybe, but this knee-deep stuff is not for me...
