At 6 a.m. when I took the dog out it was 20F
but it felt much colder due to the wind. Woke up to
70F in my bedroom and 74F in the rest of the house.
Can't complain bout that! Time to go make some
breakfast.

Gee, it's interesting to see the temperatures reported in the house. I am set at 67 during the day and 62 at night.

22 at my place and I don't think we're going to hit the projected high of 26. Tonight it's supposed to get down around 12.

It was 17 F last night and snowing in Essex County, NY. The sun today will warm it up a bit.

Central Maine about 13 Deg. F last night about 28 deg. right now and sunny.

Kinda enjoy the cold when theres a warm home to go to and you know it's not costing your first born to pay for it.

Chilly 27 degrees here Belvidere, NJ..... Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

Yes, I was running 66 during the day (boosted to 68 when I'm sitting around) and 63 at night. I guess maybe it's because with the Santa Fe stoves we can??? But last night when it was pretty darn cold here (mid 20s and windy) the stove was raising the temp very slowly - I ended up running it on high for 15 minutes before turning it back to medium. So now I'm experimenting with only dropping it to 65. It definitely keeps the second floor warmer when I set it for a more even temp.

Sorry. 60's are just too cold for me.
I'm comfy with 70-75F so that's where I like to
keep the temps most of the time. When sleeping I kick it
down to #1 setting so it drops to 68 or so overnight depending
on outside temperature. This morning at 4 am I happened
to wake up to go the bathroom so I turned the stove up
a little so it would be in my comfort zone when I got up
a few hours later. Just ordered a programmable t'stat
to do the programming for me in the future.

Well, first 24 hour burn here. Started stove up at 4:30 pm yesterday, 29 outside, got the temp up to 71 by bedtime. This morning 23 outside 71.5 inside. Came home around 5pm, 22 outside 77.5 inside. I may have to shut down now and turn it on again before bed. I have it set on 1-2, can't go any lower than that.

Too damn cold outside, toasty in here. Gotta cut the 'stat back soon as the wife goes to bed

Fascinating the different approaches depending on the functioning of our stoves. Those of us running off a t-stat or <gasp> a programmable t-stat don't even have the concept of
first 24 hour burn
. But we also don't enjoy 75 degree temps, since we can't bring ourselves to ask the stove to chew up pellets at that rate.

I'm sitting here in a breezy 200 year old cape (1200sf on two floors) with oil hot water - nice old radiators that I used to love for their even heat and the fact I could warm my boots up on them before heading out to the barn.

Last year I added an LP gas stove to the back room - nice to be able to space heat the little room where my computer sits. And then this year the pellet stove moved into the other end of the house, seems to be splitting nicely between upstairs and kitchen while keeping the living room downright toasty.. Oil and pellets are on programmable t-stats, gas stove has a remote that is very flexible.

I think I found the sweet spot between the pellet stove and the gas stove, but now as it gets colder I have to introduce the OHW into the mix - definitely an interetsing game, but one that I have always played trying to use the least amount of energy possible. With the pellet stove it seems I may have to give that up and just let the house stay genuinely warm?

Currently 25 degrees outside, 63 here by the computer. And a toasty 67 in the living room by the pellet stove. Think I'll move in there.....

About 16 degrees outside now.
Lovin this pellet thang!!!
Waiting to throw in a bag of the Pennington pellets for a test burn.
They look alot like the Athens!!

26 here right now, going down to 23 overnight.....stove has the LR at 70, and the rest of the main floor at 68. Compared to my setting of 66 last year on oil, this is heaven........

Almost 11pm it's 22F with a realfeel of 16 here.
I had put the stove on #3 and was in the computer
room for a couple hours. Holy crap when I went
into the living room it was 80F in there!

Shhhhhhhhhheet! My brother came home and said
it felt like Tahiti in there. We might get some
sand and a potted palm tree delivered tomorrow and
go with the flow. lol. J/k. I turned the stove down
to 2 now the temp is a cozy 74.

no real wind this morning

Big E running on 2 and rooms close to unit are 68 F

Back bedroom on first floor is 64 F

If there was more wind I would need to run the unit on 3 or accept a colder house

Was 14 when I got out of work this morning.....
