Haven’t found a post of someone doing this yet so maybe I’m bad at searching or it’s just not supposed to be done.
Last year I added a osburn 1700 to my existing fireplace. It’s nice did well just have to add wood often and I think in a colder winter it won’t keep up in my home.
I just recently demoed the brick that was covering the face of the chimney and decided I’m going to build a setup with a raised granite mantle and granite face. In doing this I opened up quite a larger opening for the chimney and I can now fit the 3500.
So here’s some pictures of the build so far and I’m wondering if my hearth platform needs more to not set the 2x4 frame under it on fire.
I felt like this was going to be enough but I’m not seeing enough information on this to say it’s right.
Ontop of the cement board there is going to be a granite slab. Then ontop of the granite slab will be the new wood stove.
Thoughts?
