I have a standard bulkhead with a "doghouse" on top of it instead of a bilco door. Its got a standard outside door on the basement side. I fill it up with a wheelbarrow from the outside up to the level where I can get the outside door shut. I dont stack it tight its just where I dump it. I have never had bug issues as with the basement door shut, its not that warm. I do try to empty it out for the summer.
