Every pellet purchase I've made has been with a checkbook. When I write the check I include: brand and qty in the register. So it has been a simple matter of reviewing the check register and making a summary. Since I stock my sheds in one ton groupings it's easy to see on hand inventory as well as figure consumption. Not many sellers of pellets here in this area, so not many different brands... Just crossed two tons usage...in this mild (so far) Jersey winter...

Okay...I realize my thinking may be a little anal...But I can keep track of how many I bought and have used in my head (If not, I can count bags). I can also remember what I paid without writing it down. I am more or less trying to get an idea of my pellet usage relative to an average daily temperature, Then compare how each brand does compared to one another.

H2OChild...Sounds like you burn like me, 2 tons and I've only seen a handful of cold days. It will be 73 degrees in the house and my wife will hit me with I'm chilly Used to be I kept the Thermostat at 65 when we were at home during the day and 60-62 overnight when we were using propane.

We also dropped our thermostat down to 60 degrees so oil usage should be drastically reduced!

I like the idea of the calendar, so I will be putting one on the wall to cover cleanings and maintenance of the stove.
Good visual reference.

New to the boards and the pellet stove. I installed it myself on 31 December 2011.
Loving it so far. Wife can come home and just hit a button if she is cold, so she loves it too.

Awwwe....Now that was'nt so hard was it ? I knew you could do it.

My feeling is that there are to many variables that would go int that to get real useful info.

I do have a spreadsheet, nothing fancy with macros or sums, just a few columns to track what I've purchased, where I bought, and what I paid.
It's my first season and I've bought lots of different pellets from several dealers, so it makes it easier to review at the end of the season.
I know I'm saving money over oil usage, the spreadsheet will help me figure out how much.

Fixed it. Watch where your quote and /quote are. When they changed the color to red they broke the /quote string.

Likely a screen capture. The program creates an image file of what is on the screen.

I did a screen print then opened Photoshop and created a new document and then did a paste. I resized it and saved as a jpg, after flattening image.

I'm real high tech. I put a mark on a scrap of paper for each bag burned. The paper sits in the drawer where I keep the scissors I use to cut open the top of the bag.

I cut the top of the bag clean off and stick in one bag and count at end of season.

I bought 210 bags in September, when I'm done burning in April I'll count how many I have left. Gotta keep it simple.
