Nothing unusual about burning at this time of the year. Some folks will be burning up into June. We usually figure we're done burning by mid-May. We'll get some freezing weather yet around here. We're hoping no more snow though.

I cleaned my chimney and cap last Friday thinking I was done for the season only to start another fire last night

Well, you can tell who wears the pants here.....came home last night to a fire against my wishes....that Chimney is gonna be messy this time around
Oil tank level got so low I shut it down (moving tank). Had a fire in insert last night. Supposed to be getting warm.
On a side note, central heating is nice!

Still running at least one fire per day. Usually in the morning as the sun does a good job warming up the house in the afternoon. It has been cloudy and rainy for a week so we are burning in the late afternoon / evening as well.
We usually stop burning 24/7 sometime in March and shut down the stove altogether the first or second week of April but it didn't happen this year. The stove was still going strong into the beginning of April until I totally ran out of this season's wood and started scrounging around the yard for chunks, uglies and other questionable stuff for a daily fire. There were some good days with no fires but this past week has been too chilly with the house getting down into the low 60s and never warming up. Everyone (cats/gf) were piled up at the cold stove staring sternly
about this unacceptable situation which forced me to raid '14-15s first wood pile and start burning some questionably "almost seasoned" stuff for next year. 
It is nice and toasty again though.

I quit yesterday. I refuse to burn wood in May ! I had quit about a 10 days ago, and then looked at the forecast for the last week of April and started up again. I had about a face cord of junk wood laying around so I hauled it in the stove shed and used it up. This is the latest I've ever burned. Some years I'd be done at the end of March, ridiculous !
Currently a "sizzling" 39F with rain, 15 degrees below normal (which has been "normal" for this year so far) Not expected to reach 50F till Sunday. 2nd year in a row with basically NO nice spring weather . The weather just plain stinks !!

We ran out of wood back in mid-March. Our first year burning. I've got plenty of oak for next year, but its still not seasoned enough to help me right now.
Burned last night, 4/30. Cold and rainy. Burned all my '13-'14 wood back in early April. I have about 4 fires worth of what should have been '15-'16 shoulder season junk wood. After that runs out, I'll have to start on next year's Red Oak! This has been the winter that will not end!
it has to be in the 20's for me to need to use the wood boiler. I don't have enough load other wise and it goes into idle mode and my EGT's drop and she starts to smoke.
So gas it is for me but at least that is 95% AFU so its not as bad as it could be.

May 3rd is when the apple trees put on their show and I dont even see a green tint yet.

It's been mid-60's+ the last couple days, but very cool at night. Woke up freezing yesterday and today (overnight lows of 41 both nights). I'm not going to burn when it's hitting near 70 in the day, but I can't say I haven't been tempted!

NNJ: Made a fire last night, accidently left the windows open to long and the house cooled down to 54 by 9pm. The forecasted low was 33 but I don't think it even got to 38 last night. Its a funny time of year, one day chilly next day shorts weather then maybe back to chilly
I think I will be lighting a fire when I get home tonight. I don't care what the date is. I don't like a cold house.

I was burning in may regularly last year, just shows you never know what your going to get each year...... That being said, they are predicting high 80's next week......good for drying splits though.....

woke up to snow on the ground this morning and a chilly internal temp of 50 degrees. If the weather guy is right, this should be the last cold day before we start seeing highs push back into the mid 60s and low 70s over the next week or so. I'm ready for t-shirt weather, that's for sure.
