Not having one of those 3-point winch/blades, I was debating how to get a load of logs/tops down a steep section of roadway. So . . .
I drove the truck with the snow plow on up to the log ends. Then I chained them to the plow frame and backed the truck down the hill. I knew if the truck started getting pushed around while going backwards I could have a disaster on my hands. But the truck is heavier than the tractor, the plow gives the butts something to ride against, and the back edge of the plow dragged along the roadway slowed the descent and gave stability.
All in all it worked pretty good. I think I need a 8-12 ton dump trailer so I can just cut in the woods, then load the trailer and dump in the [yet to be constructed] shed.
