Thats what I thought. I was hoping that it would still work as heat can still escape out the sides. The permabase is away from the wall. I am also putting ledger stone all the way up which will help as well. In your opinion will the permabase pass inspection. I have read a lot of mixed reviews of the use of Permabase for behind wood stoves.

As noted in the other thread, this is not an NFPA211 wall shield because of the trapped air space. The Permabase is not the issue, it is non-combustible according to the MSDS. The issue is the non-ventilated wall.

DuraBlack single wall pipe is a good quality pipe and available at HomeDepot.

BG I did not mean that it looked good from a saftey stand point (daksy had that) I ment the work looked good.

The DuraBlack looks good and the price is nice, home depot for me is 80 miles away otherwise I would have bought that.
Right now shipping is free with 45 dollar order, not bad at all if you need some pipe.
