Hello. I am new to the forum. I had to replace the gasket on my glass fireplace front. It is a Vermont castings DV fireplace. I watched a few videos that recommended using red silicone to adhere the glass to the metal frame. I used imperial brand red silicone 600° the stuff worked great.. Tight bond, but when I turned on the fireplace the next day I got terrible fumes. Is this normal? How long will it take for them to go away? Anyone ever experienced this? Thanks.
I also forgot to add that I used some high temperature spray paint on a small rusted section on the inside of the fireplace. Could that be what I’m smelling as well?
