So the decision has been made. Went and picked up the new stove. Couldn't pass up the deal. Not sure if I will get it installed this heating season. Need to gather misc parts needed for install. Got the VC cranking now, will use as needed until it gets retired. Thanks all for the help! Will update as it gets installed.

That's a great deal, especially at this time of year.

You don't burn a lot of wood any more. Your primary is the furnace. The old VC's are good units. I'd send it out for a re-build and run it...or, you can enjoy the new stove.

Update. Started replacement. Got stove out and tile removed. Need to pick new tile and measure for new liner.[Hearth.com] Should I upgrade?[Hearth.com] Should I upgrade?

Old liner out. New liner arrived. Old liner was in good shape, but outside was as filthy as inside.

Its not too bad. Plan to give it a cleaning though.

Slow progress, but progress nonetheless. Got tile down and took advantage of abnormally cool weather to do first fire in stove.

Is the tile just set in thinset right in the wood floor?

Nope. I cut out the pine floor, layed down tile backer board, then the thinset and tile. Came out flush with floor. Previous stove had backer board and tile on top of the pine floor....stuck up 3/4". Surprised I never stubbed my toe on it.
