Ok, need a little advice. I'm building a home that the owner wants a gas insert that uses 4.5/7.5 twist lock secure vent installed in the basement. My only vent option is to go 4 foot vertical then elbow through block then 8 foot horizontal and terminate out the side of the brick porch. My problem is the horizontal run will be under ground under a concrete porch, to keep the vent pipe away from moisture dirt I have some 8inch pvc sewer pipe I can use to run it inside, any thoughts? Will the exterior of this exhaust pipe get too hot?

First, you’re probably not installing an “insert” but a gas fireplace. What manufacturer & model are you installing?
Second, Does the manual allow for a horizontal vent run that is twice the vertical?
Third, most DV Pipe requires you to maintain a clearance to combustibles of 1” to the sides & bottom & 3” above it. You’re gonna need a 12” pipe to meet those requirements.

Astria Gemini DLX 35 Direct Vent. According to the spec sheet with one elbow and top vent I should be fine with the 4ft up and 8ft out, I have never installed one before and was curious about the heat generated through the exhaust. My only option is run the vent thru some 12" open core concrete block.
