Well thanks for everyone's input.
I had to make a quick decision while I had helping hands around. I did look at other options (there are so many) however wood still seems the cheaper route and I knew I didn't want it in my house any more (except for the occasional fire).
The trench is dug, pipe installed. I'm leaning towards the supposedly slightly less hungry Heatmore 350X (than the 400 series anyway).
