This is obvious to most, but just 'cuz we don't know who's reading... there's about a year's seasoning time between "green" and my still less-than-ideal 20 - 22% wood. Interesting demo, but I don't think I'd get away with burning green wood in my stove. I just know that the oft-quoted 20% isn't a hard-line number.
 
Does the 20% or less rule also work for cat stove????
I like sub-18% but I'd think every stove will react differently. I don't have a shed, my wood is top-covered but rain can still blow in on it.. I try to stage it on the porch where it is protected but there may be varying degrees of moisture on the surface of the wood. It seems like Cherry sucks up more moisture that most....
 
I agree......I am gonna have some data this winter from moisture readings as they go in the stove. It is just nice to hear that from someone who does a lot of burning in a cat stove ::-)
