I lost my splitters pull cord today and I own enough pull to start equipment I’m looking to buy a spool of it. It’s never convenient when it happens so to have it on hand is always a time saver. That being said what’s a good small engine quality pull cord brand you have had luck with?

[Hearth.com] Quality pull cord

I just go to my local small engine shop and get what they have. I replaced my first pull cord in decades on my leaf blower. What are you doing to destroy pull cords that you would want a spool? My roto tiller that I've owned for almost 40 years still has the cord I bought it with.

I get it. I have multitudes of pull start equipment. It always seems to happen to 2 pieces of equipment a week apart. You don't have a spare handy, go to the hardware store and buy a new one for $10, a week later another one breaks on something else, go to the store and get another one... Why not buy a spool with 50' for $25 that will replace 15?

Don't have a good suggestion for @Dieselhead though...

Stens TruBlue seems like the brand chosen by arborists/lawn guys. There are different sizes so find or measure the proper size, a splitter is probably a 3/16"(#6). My Honda generators does the same to the cords, the grommet on the recoil cage is at a weird angle so it frays when it is running. I just bought a 100' spool and looking for time to install.

Overkill is just one fine quality I possess. 😉 honestly I don’t blow through tons of it but if I can have something on hand that’s a wear item I do my best to.

Ain’t it always the way. I do from time to time come across a piece of discarded equipment at the curb I’ll pick up and flip, a fresh pull cord is usually one of the items it needs.

I’ll check this stuff out. Sounds good to me. 100’ should last me about 20 years 😎

That's what I thought too but both generators are frayed after two years and I run those every couple of days. Then all of the saws, splitters, compacters, snow blowers, etc. Having a couple of spools in different sizes can save the day. It's 30 miles into town so a $5 part becomes a $15 part and a couple of hours wasted.

The pull cord is usually the first thing to go on anything I buy used...
It usually happens within days of the purchase and I wonder why I must buy other peoples used headaches.
The honeymoon phase of scooping other peoples hand me downs usually starts a few weeks after the pull cord breaks.
I got a roll of skinny stuff (?3/16"ish?) off Amazon years back, it's pretty good enough.

Yea thinking about it I have no less than 14 pull start pieces of equipment, and I’m probably forgetting one or two.
