Should just have to click on the inbox at the top right of the page you are on . . . and then click on the Personal Message to read it.
They are called "conversations" here, but are the same thing as PM's (private messages) on the old forum. Note the three screens below:

You can search for members OR click their avatars...up comes a box like below, and you then "Start a Conversation".

This screen will then open up and allow to title the conversation as well as write the message, attach files, etc.

UPDATE: To go to your messages click on the envelope symbol at the upper right of the web page. To start a new conversation click on envelope, then click on the big, blue - Start A New Conversation - button.
