I'm still going with White Ash. That one round looks like the bark was falling off; Was the tree dead or dying? If so, it may have a little less than the 30% moisture that I have seen on a live tree....maybe 25%. Looks like you have a stacking area that gets some breeze...good deal. But first and foremost is taking care of that knee; Don't do anything you'll regret!

I believe that's ash and black locust in the first pic judging by the depth of the knot in one of the splits and hickory in the second

That said, the White Ash in my pics above was in a wet area, and even though it was long dead, it apparently wicked up moisture from the ground, and some of it tested at over 40%! I'm hoping that it is quicker-drying free moisture, and will leave quickly. I've got it stacked in a great wind spot, not split real big, so I think it will get dry regardless. It was stacked about a month ago. It'll be interesting to see how it does. I need some of that wood to finish my SILs' stacks for this winter...

No BL anywhere IMO.

That corner does get a decent breeze, and a good amount of sun.....starting to feel the knee as we speak.....and the Wife won't let me fill the Vicadin script....sez I didn't need it last time, don't need it now.....well at least I can have a beer or two, or three....had a torn Meniscus

I know how that feels, I did a tear of meniscus, patella tendon, ACL and MCL in one shot. Must've been partial since the specialist didn't see the need to cut me open and fix it, unless the rehab he told me to do didn't work or it started locking up. That was several years ago, and while its not as good as my right knee it is definitely better
