Hello everyone, my family is new to having a smart stove, so it's a lot more challenging than what I'm used to!

We just had a Pioneer III installed, and we're trying it out for the first time today.

We are not seeing or hearing the fan kick on.
  • The little button that flashes red underneath the firebox doesn't do anything except blink red.
  • It has blinked red since installation, it has never shown a green light.
  • We tried pressing it before and after starting a fire.
  • The fan knob is set to "high" and the thermostat is set to its highest temperature.
While checking diagnostics, I read some information that I don't understand how to fix:

[Hearth.com] Pioneer III Startup Issue

ANY help is appreciated. If anybody can give a step-by-step guide to start the fire and get it going correctly, that's even better.

Really hoping somebody knows what to do... I'm so used to a manually operated fireplace!

Hello! This is not a pellet stove. I’m not sure if it belong where it was moved.

Hello! This is not a stove that can be unplugged. This is a fireplace insert with a hardwired thermostat.

Installers did not run any tests. Is it standard that they are supposed to??

Sorry, my bad. It got moved with a few other mis-posted pellet stove threads.
This is not an insert, it is a Zero Clearance fireplace, though marketing sometimes likes to call them inserts.
The installer needs to come out and diagnose this issue and repair. It could be dangerous if the air control is stuck open, but could also be miswired or a bad control board.

Ooh thank you for the clarification. I’ll have them come out. If the thread is not closed, I will update with the end result so it help anyone else :)

As promised, I return with the fix!

As it turns out, the diagnostics manual was not really helpful in determining the problem.

The steadily blinking red light was due to a loose wire that wasn’t properly connected during installation, and the fan would not start up.

Because this was an electrical issue caused during installation, it was covered at no cost. I want to point out that fixing this specific issue is really best left to a licensed electrician sent out by the manufacturer or retailer.

I hope this helps somebody in the future!
