Chows are also made by Energex, I live 45 min from the Pa Plant

No way I didn't know that. I've been burning them and finding them to be good. Better than Nowth Americans with less ash.
burned 2 tons of Chows last year and 2 tons of Energex Hardwoods...
Chows gave the same Heat but lot of ash..
You have a Harman so ash won't be a problem..just that chows make a lot..
buy them and you'll be fine.. they DON'T gunk up your stove if the stove has been maintained all along.

I also bought 15 bags of o'malleys. Haven't burned them yet but someone here said they are hot hot.

I'm just about done burning 2 tons of Energex Hardwoods [3 bags left] and about to hit the 1 ton of O'Malley's I have..
burned a few bags earlier and yes they burn pretty hot.

Fireside Ultras from Home Cheapot have been great this year.

Stay away from the Thera Glo from Home Depot. They are very ashy and create a nasty black build up in my stove.
I have never had any problems with the Stove Chow from HD.

I've had FSUs, Stove Chow, Presto Logs (WVA plant) and Blazers (can you say Doug Fir?) from my local HD. They've ranged from good to outstanding. It ain't the store - it's the pellets. . .

Agree with both posts.

Not sure if we will ever get those Blazers again at HD..Specially for the same price as the brands you mentioned..
I managed to grab about 30 bags or so...That was Deffinitly a SCORE!!!!

And yes, Stove Chows have come up a bit in the standings in the past 2 yrs..
people are finding out they are a good heat pellet although be prepared for lot's of ash..
but for the BBS price? worth buying.
I burned them during the Polar vortex last year and they kept the house plenty warm.

Thanks for the info guys I'll prob just buy a ton of stove chows and clean the stove more no big deal. I love the oakie golds and got three free tons when I got my stove from the dealer.

At $225 a ton whatever

I just want a ton to get me through this year and I'll get 4 tons this summer of a better pellet when they are Cheaper. Oakies were free but $269 per ton in July now $299 per at the place I got my stove

I love my HD pellets. In 4 years they have had either FSU or MWPs. The price has gone up this year to $238 per ton, but that's a whole lot cheaper than electric or propane. My only problem this year is that they are selling out 40 ton in a day. I had to break down and get 2 ton of Corinth from EBS, at $278 per ton. These things better load themselves into the stoves. Everywhere here is selling 22 ton shipments within a day/ day and a half. Except the local Harmoan dealer, who wants $8 a bag for their super-duper pellets that they try to sell to the people who buy their stoves. I think they are Green Supremes.

Where did you buy your Harmon?, Squire Lumber?, 3 free ton's how did you manage that deal?

Yes squire, 2 tons with the stove and a free ton on tax free weekend because the stove was taxed. Well they gave $259 per ton I paid $60 twenty extra each ton to upgrade.

Stove was taxed, piping wasn't and three tons basically it was a fantastic deal imo

For some odd reason my local HD offered Pres-to-Logs pellets this season @$250/ton. A non-regional (PNW) mediocre brand. In past years they only sold Blazers, a local Doug Fir pellet @$190/ton.

I knew they would not sell many of those P-to-L's as most pellet customers are well versed on price and quality when shopping for pellets.

Last week I was in HD and noticed they had Blazers @ $4.19/bag. I grabbed a few bags to try in my beater Whitfield Quest. Ahhh.......nice burning stuff! My stash is getting low so I well probably finish the season with Blazers.

I have been stuck getting whatever HD, Lowes or TSC has in stock. Best I've come across is Greene Gold. Which doesn't say much. They seem to get whatever is available. I think most will work OK. If you find something good buy all you can.

BAHAHA! That video though...

Place a mile away has Maine woods blend pellets for $280 per ton. Get the stove chows from HD for $225 or the ones down the street....?

Same pellets at squier are $270 per ton but they are 30 minutes away.

^ white bag. Worth the $55 diff from HD ones?

This year in my Harman i have burned the following

FSU= good heat, ok ash
Okies gold and Platinum= both great heat, low ash
AWF= good heat, low ash
Maine woods= good hea,t ok ash
Omalleys= good heat,lots of ash and really long pellets
LG= great heat, low ash
Lecretes+ great heat and low ash.

I dont find the XXV to be too picky, hasn't been yet atleast. i will say for the $215 a ton i paid for the FSU ( 10% coupon ) they burn great and I got them at the depot.

FSU = Fireside Ultra's

I have burned 3 different Pellets this year all from Home Depot

3 tons of Green Supreme IMHO they are not great but seem to burn pretty hot.
20 bags of AWF (Softwood) burned really hot but stuck to the hopper. I mixed a few bags with GS and they did pretty well.
15 Bags of FSU= They don't seem much different burn wise then the GS but do throw more heat.

I have just under a ton left of the GS and will need to buy I am sure about 1 ton more of something to get me through the rest of the winter.

However on a GREAT note. I have officially only burned about 25 gallons of oil so far and that was mostly due to my Stove being down for repair for almost 2 weeks.
