Wow, its been a long time since I seen prices that low. $189 is a steal for a stable pellet like Turmans. $219 is still a very good price. I see them for $268/ton and I though that was a deal.

Finger Lakes NY area

Big box stores $229.00 per ton

small hardware, feed stores, stove shops $229.00 to $299.00 per ton

Brands vary

$220 a ton for O'Malley pellets in the MD area, which is about $20 dollars a ton cheaper than the junk at the box stores around here.

Price last year for NEWP $195 per ton went up to $215 in April went up to $220 in June then up again in August to $230 then up again in October $238 then down to $230 in November then another drop in December to the current price of $225. We keep a $20 to $25 profit on them depending on gas and propane cost. Its hard being a dealer when they change the prices with out telling you until you ordered at the higher price!

its certainly a challenging market to be in, isnt it? The funny thing is that no year is ever the same....you cant use last years' lessons this year.....even pellet quality cant be extrapolated from this year to next.....unless you bought cheap, i wouldnt want to have a large position at this time of the year.......unless you got a "deal".....

well I take back the statement that most are from Mass. What I really meant to say is that I do not see many people from Virginia

I tried a newly installed central air with heat strips this year and was floored by the electric cost, just for the month of December the bill was 400. really liked the even heat though but after I received the bill I removed pellet stove from basement and installed it in the living room venting into the chimney which was already used for the oil furnace (against code) but the furnace is disconnected. Then went and bought a ton of pellets. Will not argue with what is cheaper will just do it. I planned on having a choice of the three and pellets so far are winning out.
I tried the electric because last summer when I tried to buy pellets the price was 299. a ton if not more
