Hi everyone, I hope somebody can help. I have a pellet burner (ep-18a - https://www.altbergsplat.se/produkter/pelletsbrannare) and it's burning too many pellets. I'm getting through 3 X 16KG bags per day.
The pellet burner is attached to an ATMOS DC30SF wood boiler. It connects to a borö TIV 500L/FC110 which itself attaches to another TIV-500L. There is a Laddmoat 21 in between the boiler and the tank that I have replaced the thermostat valve on.
Something must be wrong somewhere as we're not even using it to provide us with hot water, it should only be being used for the radiators but it never stops running.
I have set the temperature on the boiler to 80ish and the pellet boiler does switch off once it reaches that, but only for 240 seconds which is set on the pellet burner and cannot be changed. It then fires up and runs for a while, rinse and repeat.
The pipe that goes up to the expansion tank in the attic is very hot (70 degrees Celsius at least), so it feels like instead of switching itself off it just keeps on going and going, which heats the water in the expansion tank in the attic.
I have tried connecting the boiler to a timer switch so that it is on for 2 hours then off for 4 hours, but even that is still using 2 bags per day, and before those 4 hours are up we can feel the temperature dropping.
I have a neighbour who i spoke to about his pellet burner and he uses 3 bags a week, and he also uses it for hot water so there must be something wrong. Any advice would be great. At the moment it's costing us $24/269SEK per day for heating.
