PE Alderlea T5 - door and window gaskets

It's pretty unlikely that the glass gasket has failed after just 2 years, but I would go oem there too. Are you seeing sooting patterns that indicate a leak in a specific location?

Hey Folks - Wanted to post an update. Thanks to you all who've piped up: @begreen , @bcrtops , @pma1123 , @Sprinter . Your input has really helped. Really appreciate it!

I was impressed the more I read from you folks that your stove dependably burned through the night, and only some of you reported runaway fires. The more I looked at our situation compared to others, came to some ideas on how to resolve our stove problems. We have a drafty farm house that is exposed to prevailing winter winds. On top of that, I hear that the T6 is a "heavy breather". After messing around with faulty gaskets (door gasket was knocked off, glass gasket was cut by the door) and boost holes, I think we've settled on a happy stove that is burning through the night. Once we load up the stove, the flames gently sway inside the stove, as opposed to still wildly flickering like an outdoor campfire.

• Glass Gasket - Replaced the old glass gasket, I do think it was just a lemon that wasn't originally installed right, so it was slowly getting frayed with each door opening/closing. Finally, when I repaired our loose door gasket, the glass one came apart due to my pokin' around. The new 1/8" glass tape gasket has really helped the airflow problems we were having historically.
• Boost Air Hole - Bonus, I remembered that a year ago @begreen recommended that I investigate the boost air hole on the stove. Got my act together, and plugged it with aluminum tape. For anyone who's got a similar situation, I really recommend trying out this solution, as it's quick, not permanent and could really fix a drafty stove problem. Check out the photo that @begreen shared with me (image left is the front of the stove, can't miss the hole if you take out the ash pan).

LOL. I never thought of my stove as having a darker side. Though perhaps hearth.com could be considered stove porn.

Most of PE stove line are "easy breathers" I think in part this is due to the short path for the secondary air supply. It's good to hear that things have settled down for you.
