I have a Jotul 602 stove, which has a 4.5" diameter opening and calls for a 6" stovepipe.
I was recently given enough 8" diameter metalbestos to do my whole chimney, so I'm really hoping I can use that. Is there any reason this would not work? Would the best thing be to use 6" single-wall stovepipe and then an adapter into the 8" insulated stuff, or just use 8" all the way up with an adapter at the bottom? Is there any other part that would need to be used to make this installation work? I'm going to be coming straight out the top of the stove.
The manual for the 602 says to use 6" metal chimney, but it does mention using up to 8" diameter flue lining for a masonry chimney, which makes me think it would work alright? Let me know if I'm off-base and maybe I can find a way to trade for the 6" stuff.
