Just had the stove inspected and it appears all is well. No damage to the stove or the inner pipe...so just the crackled paint in the region of the pipe that was glowing red needed some touch up. Sprayed that with a little high temp paint from Rutland. Phew! Thanks again for talking me through the situation. I feel as though I have a better handle on getting control of an over fire now.
