I want to install an OAK kit to this insert. The vent cover to the insert is on right side near the t/stat. Mixing cold air near the t/stat thinking this would affect its operation. Besides cracking a near by window what are my options should I run ugly pipe to the side of the stove say 20inchs from intake? Have any of you burners installed an OAK To a BK Insert?

Odd, the manual mentions that outside air may be desirable in some contemporary homes, but I can't find info on installing an OAK.

What are your options? Is there an ash pit door in the fireplace which could be removed and screened for use as an outside air supply?

No ash pit door center located insert here. This insert is 5 ft away from concrete wall that is apox 3ft tall I was thinking of running oak from this wall but not sure how close I should be to stove there is no knock out plate in stove

The PI doesn't have an intake for an OAK.

If you want to warm the intake air so it doesn't mess with the thermostat, the easiest way is going to be cracking a window across the room instead of putting a hole in the wall near the stove.

OR you could cut a big hole in the stove, which would be way cooler. Pics please. :)

Problem with cracking window is smoke from chimney rolls into the cracked window. House is facing south
