Question- Can anyone with a non-catalytic EPA stove tell me what the fluepipe temps (single-wall) are on the outside right out of the stove? e.g. 3 inches off the flue collar, and let's say the stovetop is at 500F. Using an IR thermometer to check this preferably.
Kinda curious how badly my old smoke dragon screws me with heat wasted out the chimney, as its baffle is fairly short. At full operating temps of ~600F on the griddle my Defiant's fluepipe ~1in behind the stove sits around 450-500F (pointing at the top of the horizontally-running pipe with my IR gun). This temp can shoot up into the 500's and even 600's if I open the side door and let flames start shooting past the baffle into the flue.
