So I like the idea of an OAK to help with keeping the humidity in the house but here's my situation...

My insert does not allow for a proper OAK connection. In fact, as far as I can tell the primary air come from the front sides of the insert.

I do however have an approx 2.5 inch pipe through the back wall of my chimney that is capped off inside at the back of the insert. Would uncapping this pipe make the insert draw at least some of its combustion air through this pipe?
