The system is set up as injection vs a Parallel or Series set up. Basically what happens is the boiler heats up the tank and when there is a call for heat the zones draw their heat from the storage tank.

When the storage tank drops to 150 the boiler kicks on and heats it back up again.

No ICF foundation. I used a product called InSoFast. It glues or screws to the wall, gives R10 and has built in wiring chases.

. Quick run out and buy all the milk and bread in the stores cause you'll never see it again ;)

Sam

Did someone say bread and milk?

I just hope the winds (40+ mph gusts are being called for) don't knock out power. no power and these temps are going to kill people.

Not worried about the stoves keeping up but am concerned about frozen pipes. It's a good night to run the stoves low and turn the boiler on just enough to make sure you don't have an issue.

Hello

It has not been -12 around here for many, many years! Also a huge snowstorm! Many schools already closed down for tomorrow! 6-12 inches forecasted!

If Harmy1 (P61a) cannot hack it, I will kick in Harmy2 (P61a) for double the wood pellet heat!

Click on pic to enlarge and see full forecast! Yikes
Storm has a name now "Hercules"
6 degrees out and snowing. Living room is 70, stove is cycling between 1 (satisfied thermostat) and 4 (calling for heat) Life is warm!

-11 below, Essex Jct. Vermont. M55 on blower 4, pellet feed 2 on Hi-low T-stat set at 73. Most of our downstairs rooms are between 70-73/ 68/69 upstairs. We're nice an toasty! Our TV weather guy just said Fri night might hit close to -20 below. Haven't seen that cold in many years. Keep warm everyone! Bill

Currently the Weather Channel app on my desktop says it's +1F, 17mph NNE wind, feels like -18F. After running just Currans Softies for the past couple days, I'm running a mix of those and the GTs tonite for a bit more heat output and will go back to all GT for the next couple days with it so cold. I'll put up with the higher ash of the GTs for a few more BTUs.

Took the dog out for a walk. Snow felt like little needles hitting my face with this cold. He on the other hand loves it. Course he's a 140lb St. Bernard/Great Pyrenees mix with a very dense but soft coat of fur.

Gotya. Thanks for all the info. Some good food for thought, if I ever decide to replace my oil injector for a pellet one. I'll need room for a 5+ton pellet bag, check. A way to bring them in, check. An existing Buderus boiler or like, check. Room for a water storage tank, check. A source for bulk pellets, check. Will need to run a full-length flue liner, check. Now, will have to investigate cost.

I just had 100 gals of oil delivered today. Haven't filled the tank in a couple of years and I was almost on fumes. I don't plan on needing much, but when it gets in the single digits/negatives, I need a little more heating oomph.

See that Purple Blob? 12-18" I am center-south in that mess. Running 2 bags/day in basement, still 69F upstairs...not turning oil on at all

Very Good, My friend has a big E in his basement. What heat level do you run your Big E on?

Engine block heaters, standard equipment out here!Plus synthetic oil helps a lot,but you would be suprised people will not use synthetics.

Hubby forgot to change the oil to lighter weight for the winter and needs to use the block heater to get it going lately. Same kind of temps here as Montana -35F to -40F two nights ago. Finally getting warmer temps of -23F for tonight!

Kids were home to celebrate Christmas on New Years - outside throwing boiling water so they could watch it evaporate almost instantly in -37F temps;lol

I've been running mobile 0 w 30 here for years in my plow truck and a 2011 Buick Regal .

It's been below 0 F. at my place for the past 36 hours and my garage is holding steady at 35 F. Hopefully it stays that way until I can get the radiators installed.

It's 13 degrees outside here in central CT right now. My stove is on level 3 (of 5), and it's a toasty 73 in the living room. We are getting down to -5 tonight. I'll probably have to bump the stove up to level 4 tonight.

Forecast is for minus 25 up in my area of NH. The valleys usually get it the worst so I expect to be around -18.

Do you have the stove on a T-Stat? Auto-Hi/Lo or Auto-On/Off ?

P.S. Where is the reset button on the Hi Limit switch in the M55? Is it under the control panel behind a Stainless Steel cap that must be pulled out in the inside of the hopper?

Don:

My stove isn't hooked up to a thermostat. I didn't have to turn the stove up to lvl 4 last night. I left it on lvl 3 and woke up to a 73 degree living room.

I don't know where reset button is. I haven't had to find out yet.

At the -12 temps, using Hamers Hot Ones in my 25 ep, my house stayed at 67 degrees! It doesn't sound like much, but I am very pleased with these numbers! I never expected my stove to put out the heat that it does. LOVE IT!!!!

We have had those below zero temps for most of the last month.

Calling for -55 with wind chills on Monday.
