Good advice. In general an insert that sticks out onto the hearth will heat better with the blower off. Could be important during a power outage.
I'd suggest this to my wife but I think it would result in painful consequences!I a power outage, I just have the wife stop fanning me with a palm leaf and fan the stove instead while I go get the generator going.
