He has tons of Forum members but is short on storeroom space.

You doing better then me then .................
I have a neighbor that is an English Teacher that can't change an air filter on a car , let alone know where its at.
Its hard to "gauge what type of person" you are talking to in a forum. To me , proper grammar isnt a sign of being smart , but is nice to have on your side.
My wife and i work out very well together , she is the wiz bang on grammar and english and I'm the math wiz but the other of each is not our strong point. Everybody has there strong / stronger areas as so with there less then perfect points.

BTW Goose, in my school when a kid asks if they can go to the bathroom my stock response is "I dunno, but if you can't let me know and I'll send you to the nurse" hh:

I give non-reponsive answers like "I have no idea - are you potty trained?" or equivalent.... Some of them eventually figure out that the correct question is "MAY I go... (usually yes...) others don't get it. This is with kids in 4th grade and up, I'm not as fussy with the younger kids.
In general I don't comment on spelling or grammar, though I try to keep mine as good as I can easily manage. However I do find that bad grammar, especially, slows me down when I'm reading because I have to keep trying to translate it into what the person means. I don't hold it against the person, but it does make me a bit less likely to respond to them if it's a marginal case and they are hard to communicate with.

I had an instructor in collage who when students would ask questions like "is this right or wrong?", his answer was a quick "Yes" without even looking at them or what they were showing him. Virgins would assume he meant it was right, it took a long time for some of them to realize he was answering the question they asked and not the implied question they wanted an answer to.
Now and then I do the same thing with the "paper or plastic?" question. Yes.
