[Hearth.com] New to the forum! Love to learn more about our Fabco Pioneer Z

We LOVE our Fabco pioneer Z zero clearance insert. Moved into our home a few years ago but really picked up woodstoving this year. I did a lot of research on thjs fireplace whjch took me here. I understand they were acquired by Blazeking and I even paid some website for the user manual which I do have but the manual was rather sparse.

I understand this is an EPA 1988 type of stove with no cat. I hired a pro chimney cleaner who did a good job but didn’t completely remove the baffle plate. Everything looks great though.

What do folks think of those type of stove? Is it worth upgrading or should we just keep rocking this one?

One last question. I understand closing the air damper control above will increase recirculation of hot air and promote complete combustion, but also decrease the flue outlet temperature. So which way should I have the damper to minimuze cresote formation? Close or open? I tend to run the primary air wide open as burning is mostly for ambience and no need for overnight burn.

Boy that's an impressive, wide beast. What are the side compartments for? It looks in like new condition. If this is mostly for nights and weekend burning and you love it, might as well keep it.

Thank you for your kind words!

The side compartments are for fans! I like this thing a lot also because there is no cat to swap out. I appreciate the builder of our home who put this baby in. Not only it’s beautiful for viewing it’s also fairy efficient.

I think fabco was acquired by blazeking but I couldn’t find more info about this thing on Blazeking website.
