NEW TO ME STOVE INSTALL, FRUSTRATIONS & PICS

Finally got the pipe through the damper and the offset box in place. Whew what a challenge. Here a pic of the stove and the catalytic combustor. I think its in pretty good shape. The combustor looks to me to be in good shape. I also managed to get the stove in place and am working on getting the face plate to fit. I need to cut the sides by 2 inches, as well as the top piece of the faceplate.

Here is the pic of the stove in place waiting for the faceplates. I do have a question for you all, this stove has a built in thermometer for the cat. says to engage at or after 500 degrees. My question is how accurate is this thermometer and is this the only thermometer that I need? I've read other posts that state that some people have a couple one on or near the door, on the pipe, on the top or on the side. So I'm not sure if I need another thermometer and if so where would I put it on this particular stove or is the stock one sufficient?

Face plates cut and fitted. Had to do some extra grinding and filing but they fit.

A damper that mounts on top of the chimney and that is far superior to the one you have in there now costs around a hundred an fifty bucks if you ever need to meet code compliance or turn it back into a fireplace.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just did a similar job at my Mom's. I cut that damper out immediately. I also removed the course of fire brick that was beneath the damper (back side only) for additional room. Good luck.
