I know the stove is working right but I think it should get hotter then it should. To people that don't know this stove (harman 300i) is a down draft gasifier stove but I'm not impressed with it at all.

Are we talking full cords or face cords/ricks? What are the dimentions of the cords you're talking about? 4'x4'x8 or 4'x'8'x16"?

Yikes. You might want to do some sealing/caulking too. If you can get a door blower test done that would help you locate the areas in need. Can't help on the stove selection, we're still pondering a BK ourselves. The republic is a good stove, but I could really go for a longer burn time!

I totally understand, we did the same. This place used to be a summer cottage-it wasn't built for winter living! The door blower test was a real eye opener and identified some serious air leaks we didn't realize we had.

The reason I want a free standing one is mostly for when the power goes out since I have to use the blowers on the insert to get any heat out. Last year the power went out for 3 days when it was 10 degrees out. Plus I would like to cook on it if anyone doesn't think I should switch let me know why. I wouldn't recommend harman to anybody that doesn't want to spend a lot of money just in the fire box their is 3 pieces of cemeric panels that are easy to break costing up the 400 and the afterburner fire dome up to over $500 and they don't last long not to mention I have to rip the stove out to do anything

Once I get done at my house my buddy has a thermo camera he will walk around inside the house in winter and see if I missed anything

I was doing a search for the High Valley 1600 and this came up (not trying to hijack this thread). I found a used one for sale and was looking for any info. on these stoves. Does anybody have any experience with these stoves?
