Do you guys think its a wise choice to install an OAK while i havnt stoned the back wall yet? I dont have any issues with out one. I thought i read somewhere it can back puff hot ash into the tube and cause a fire! Would there be any neg to it at all? Just straight out the back wall maybe as high as i can get it with out me seeing it from the front?

Still havnt finished lol but i did get my BS mantel epoxied in! Gonna go with the stone in the pic too once i can stop burning and move the stove out for a day

Well with time comes beauty! Was able to finally finish the hearth up b4 this burn season. I love how it turned out, ended up using 6x24"quartz ledgestone panels from homedepot! Good stuff highly recommend it! Set a row of tile in front for something a little different and a tad more protection!

That looks super. It's a very clean installation. Well done!

What did you use to make the mantle? I am installing a very similar design. I am also installing the ledgestone from HD. I am looking for a mantle similar to yours. Is it just bluestone?

Wow, very nice! Is the base one piece?

Beautiful!

Grumbling, BB walks away to once again throw an empty beer can at his ugly hearth.

Yup just bluestone, the brackets have 3/8" holes drilled into the back and 3/8" anchors in wall with epoxy made for this app. I threw cats up b4 durarock so i didnt have to find a beam.

One piece and around 400lbs! Good thing this is all on a slab!

Thanks guys for all the kind words!
