I'd question the 12' minimum. It seems like most problems we've seen lately from new BK owners are draft related, or wood isn't as dry as they think. At least you have room to work, if necessary.

When I was installing my King, I couldn't find anything in my manual. When I called they told me 14', but it is a different stove, and 8" vs 6". I had around 13', and it worked okay. I added 3', and it might work better, or I like to think it does because of the $100 I spent on the pipe.

Looking forward to a report.
 
Had my Princess delivered and set up yesterday. Only problem was door latch did not work. Took door and latch back to dealer to compare with his display functioning King. Sure enough the door half of the latch was the wrong part. Without hesitation dealer had his latch off the King door and onto mine.

Now on my third load and so far very impressed with the function of this stove. Still on the learning curve. Last burn was 14 hours and could have gone longer but wanted it loaded for the night.
