I picked my BK Princess up today and started setting up. I chose a pedestal with ash pan and blower fans. When installing the fan with the speed control, the notch for the air control rod is binding the control rod making it hard to turn. I can grind the notch to free it up. My dad has had a BK king since the mid 80’s. I just learned his control was hard to turn recently. He said he has never really had to adjust it so never thought more about it. We removed his fan and that was what was making his air control hard to turn. He used a grinder to free up. Question is, something I’m doing wrong? Regardless, BK makes a great stove and I’m looking forward to this winter. Dad swears by his King. On a side note, my stove did come with a BK hat.

Yes, the slots for the tstat rod are rubbing on the top of the slots made for the rod. The slots for the mounting bolts are about 3/8” too high. To get the upper most lip of the fan duct to fit under the port on top of the stoveI could slightly bend it down to GO UNDER the port a directed. This puts even more pressure on the tstat rod. This was the same on dad’s 40year old King. He just never mentioned how tight it was to turn his Tstat. He never really had to. I could either drill new bolt holes under the existing holes and bend the top lip of the fan duct down, or slot the tstat grooves more and slightly bend that upper lip down.
I have to run back to the dealer one day anyhow, so I will speak with them. I was able to get both fans mounted and screwed tight. The Tstat arm would turn but very tight.I loosened the two screws on the bracket at Tstat control knob.It freed up control to where I don’t think it will be a problem. My dad was very thrilled to get his BK camo hat!
