Ok so I went out and bought a Honeywell 7500D thermostat for my XXV. Hooked it up last night and everything seemed to work ok (thanks to this forum!!!). I am running it in the auto start and room temp mode. Today it got warm enough that the stove shut off for a while this afternoon. Later this eve I noticed it was getting cool in the house so I went to investigate. It was giving me the 5 blink status which in the owners manual that says it didn't light within the 36 or so minutes. We as a family was playing games near by and I know it did not try to light. I looked at the thermostat and it said that the heat was on. So I turned the stove off and then on again and it fired right up. What is WRONG??? I wired it in just like was advised me on this forum. I have the temp control set way up at like 85 degrees (I don't want it that warm, I just set it there so the thermostat would do the work). I have the thermostat set at 72. Is there something I'm missing??? Thanks!!!

did it run out of pellets prior to shutting down the last time?

eh, cant help you any further, really, other than to ask if the unit still operates correctly with only the room temp probe hooked up.....obviously, if it does, its a thermostat issue. Maybe not a stove issue at all?

I cant imagine they are related. Mine has never missed a beat, but I only run in Manual. Try running with the igniter switch in manual to allow it to go down to a maintenance fire between calls for heat. if that works, then all should be well with the thermostat. Wouldn't hurt to check the igniter area to insure it's clean.

disconnect the t-stat and see what happens.

fires up as soon as i disconnect the thermostat....

You might want to post pictures of how you have the thermostat connected to the stove. Also, you should watch the process to see if everything is doing what it should. Once the call for heat is satisfied, the thermostat contacts will open and the stove will go into 4 blink mode and shut down. Then, when there is a call for heat, the 4 blink status should reset and the stove will re-light. Also, if you have a meter, make sure the thermostat is open when call for heat is satisfied and closed when there is a call for heat. Thermostat is doing nothing other than opening/closing 1 leg of the thermistor probe.

EDIT - Something tells me your thermostat might not be millivolt compatible. In other words, if it says it can be used with a 2 wire gas fireplace, then you're good. I did a quick check and didn't see this noted for your thermostat. If you can't find anything mentioning Millivolt, then this might be your problem. By contrast, Harman recommends the RTH230B which clearly states that it's millivolt compatable.

Update? I ran my XXV + Skytech Thermostat in Auto mode with no issues.

Sorry I haven't updated... I'm still working with it all... will try to post the outcome as soon as I have a little more time to trouble shoot... Thanks!!
