for what? stoves or piping?

My piping situation. I haven't been able to find a double walled adjustable 90 or a double walled 60. I would really like to be able to run a vertical exhaust collar and reduce the number of 90s to improve my draft.

Usually the 45s can be made to work by inserting telescoping piece(s) off the stove and if necessary between the elbows. That usually provides enough adjustment to get the 45's in alignment with the thimble.

My problem is that the 45 at the thimble sends my pipe too far forward, that's why I need a sharper angle. It looks like the only thing that would work would be attaching a small section at the thimble and adding a 90. That would reduce me from 3 90s to 2 90s and a 45 along the whole system. But again, the problem with doing that is the 90 would be closer than 6 inches to combustibles on my stepped mantel (I have brick along on the backwall that step down away from the chimney with wooden mantels). Are there any options of shielding the mantel with the pipe being closer?

We need to see what you are seeing. There may be options or caveats that we can't see without some pics.

Ok, so here is my set up with the two 45s on that shows the angle working at the stove but not at the thimble. I have also attached a picture of my 90 elbow. Just a though, I could get a 60 degree angle by cutting the 90 at the white line. Would this be ill advised, or a good option?

Pics really help. Thx. Looks like the stove could move forward on the hearth about 6". Would that help?

I have enough room to move it forward 6 inches. It would look awkward in the space, but it would work. However, the spot where I currently have the stove is such that it would match the location of the exhaust for the PE Super 27 when I decide to upgrade.

I think cutting the 90 at that line would be perfect. What are your thoughts on that?

I'm not for cutting the elbow. It seemt that it would be hard to make a good connection to the thimble. I'd sooner put a short, crimped extension on a 90 that is angled down to meet the 45 on the stove. Not ideal, Or... rotate the stove 45 degrees clockwise and see how the two 45 elbows align then.

Looking at the 90, it appears that it has already been cut previously to shorten it so that its further away from the mantle. I will try the 90 modified to 60 degrees. If it doesn't have a good fit, I will just keep the 45s on and move the stove. I don't think I will need to do any cutting of the 90 as it will be at a joint and the outer and inner portions can be removed with a screw driver and pliers.
