I was fondling new saws today and definetly think I want a MS261. Picked up the 660 for chits and giggles. Man, what a beast to handle, might've had a lot to do with the 36" ES bar they had hanging off it too. ==c

My only experience with a 660 was with a 20" bar....... felt like I brought a bazooka to a knife fight. Great saw though.

I defiantly shouldn't have picked up a 261, didn't know what I was missing.

I stopped at a home depot to check out the makita 6421 rental saw. It just felt heavy and akward for me. And their awful customer service on a rigid battery I needed to warranty was awful. I have to bring in my good charger and drill and leave it all for them to test. Then they send out an order for repair for the battery. Who knows how long I'll be without a perfectly good charger and drill. And the service drone could only recite a script. Why cant they just test the battery and give me a new one? Anyways it made me realize that having a good local dealer was worth something. Would have liked to see a 372 in person, might have made a different decision.

Ive only used the 660 an hour but it wasn't that heavy. Once you add a bar and chain along with gas and oil the weight difference isn't as big percentage wise. The pics make the saw look huge compared to the 029. But in person not so much.

First of congrats on the new saw, that thing is going to be a beast.

Second, if the cl guy you are talking about the guy in Phippsburg? If it is have you ever dealt with him?

K
Yeah thats the guy. Only experience with him is he never got back to me about the 440 he has on cl.

I'm not sure I'd see enough of a diffence between a 6400 or 360 and my 029? Plan to keep the 029 and maybe add a 180 down the road.[/quote/]

the 029 is not even in the same league

That's the problem I'm having with him. I sent and email that he responded to then after that I haven't heard back from him. I've tried sending 3 more emails but he never writes back. I'm going to give him a call, maybe that's the way he operates. I just don't understand why you would put something on CL and then never respond?

That or one of it's older siblings (260/026) are on my wish list.
